Day of Slavic Script in the University of Zurich

Slavic Script Day was held in the Institute of Slavonic studies of the University of Zurich. The event started with performance, conducted by 9-year old student of CET “Matryoshka” Sophia Nikoljskaja. Together with ensemble of the adult group of “Matryoshka” she sang Russian folk songs and danced.

Press attaché of the Russian Embassy Elena Arkhipova and representative of Rossotrudnichestvo Alexander Berdin presented prizes to the winners of the essay competition on Russia, which was held among the students of the university. The authors of the most original essays presented their works to public. Audience was surprised by the student Henny Yarosh, who, being fascinated by a trip to St. Petersburg, wrote poetry in Russian about this city, which now is her favourite one.

The event was continued by People's Artist of the Soviet Union Igor Morozov and poet Sergei Zavyalov.

In conclusion students sang Russian folk song "Moscow Nights" and the song of Viktor Tsoi "A Star Called Sun".

We hope that the Russian days in the University of Zurich will become a tradition.
